Taking a look back today! Remarkable transformation by RVA Construction, Inc. – the revitalization of the historic Thalhimer’s building in Old Town Manchester. This project has brought fresh new life to a beloved landmark with DogTown Brewing Co., a vibrant taproom, a rooftop deck with stunning city views, restaurant space, and 12 stylish residential apartments. By preserving the building’s architectural integrity while adapting it for contemporary use, RVA Construction has breathed new life into this cherished landmark.

In coordination with Shawn Beckwith Director of Historic Preservation for the Tidewater and Big Bend Foundation and Cheryl Griggs, Director of Interior and Exterior Design for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation RVA Construction led the renovation of this 7,000 sq. ft. historic home and kitchen outbuilding to meet the Department of the Interior’s standards for historic preservation Built-in 1851 this Greek Revival Plantation was carefully investigated, stabilized, and revitalized to enjoy: ✔ An electrical system ✔A top-of-the-line VRF HVAC system ✔A modernized plumbing system allowing for a new three-bathroom suite Each of the five bathrooms features Calacatta gold and green marble floor tiles and pedestal sinks. The two-story back porch was fully deconstructed and rebuilt to match the original, including custom millwork profiles unique to the home. Additionally, the kitchen and mudroom now feature custom,hand-built casework and stained-cedar finishes. With this renovation, the elegance and integrity of the home have been preserved for another 150 years, honoring its historical significance so well, that you’d never know we were there.

Last week, we were grateful to have The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology host RVA Construction for career night. We got the opportunity to learn about the carpentry program and we met some excellent future employees! Thank you for having us.
