  • Last week, our economic development team had the privilege of participating in a small-group meeting at the Greater Nashville Regional Chamber to discuss Japanese investment in Middle Tennessee. We were honored to welcome Mr. Komiyama Yasuji, Director-General for Trade Policy at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), and Mr. Shinji Watanabe, Consul at the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville. The conversation highlighted the incredible contributions of Japanese companies, which employ thousands of individuals in Rutherford County, and explored opportunities to strengthen our state and region’s longstanding partnership with Japan. Special thanks to Lori Odom, Masami Tyson, and Mitsuru Shinozaki for the invitation and for organizing this impactful discussion!

  • 3 ?s with Diplomat of the Month, Grady Payne Q: What was your first job? A: Courtesy Clerk at Kroger aka Bagger Drugstore/Soda Shoppe. I can still remember how to make a milkshake. Q: What’s the best part of your job? A: Connecting with our awesome community on so many levels. Q: What’s the best advice you ever received? A: If you never ask, it’s always No. And if you never try, you’ll never get anywhere. Both apply to every area of life, but the second part means we can do more than we think we can. #diplomatofthemonth #ChamberDiplomat
