The solutions that work for some communities don’t work for all of them. That’s why we exist.

Congratulations to REACH grantee, Sara Elnakib, PhD, MPH, RD, on the well-deserved recognition for her impactful work advocating for food access and security, reducing food waste, and creating sustainable changes at the local levels. You are an inspirational example of pairing research with community partnership to change systems.
I’m incredibly humbled to be named one of Today's Dietitian Magazine’s TD10—an annual list recognizing dietitians who are making an impact in the field. This recognition is especially meaningful because of its emphasis on mentorship—something I deeply value in my work with students, colleagues, and community partners. My journey in public health nutrition has been driven by a passion for food security, food waste reduction, and systems-level change. It’s a privilege to work alongside so many inspiring individuals who are committed to building a more sustainable and equitable food system. A huge thank you to Today's Dietitian Magazine for this recognition and to all the mentors, colleagues, and students who continue to challenge and inspire me every day. This honor is a reflection of the collective work we do together. Let’s keep pushing for a future where everyone has access to nourishing food—and where no food goes to waste. ???? A special Thank You to my colleague and mentor Dr. Karen Ensle for nominating me for this honor. #TD10 #Mentorship #FoodSecurity #FoodWaste #PublicHealthNutrition #NationalNutritionMonth #RDNDay https://lnkd.in/ec6uhFX3

#FridayFundingFeature - As uncertainty spreads about the future of nonprofit funding, we continue to seek and share avenues of support for the critical work of health equity. These public and private funders share a concern for equity, though they may have a particular interest in any one of REACH’s focus areas: education, employment, food access/security, housing, or population health. This week, we're highlighting the Minority Research Grant Program. The purpose of this Office of Minority Health opportunity is to test promising solutions in existing Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) programs, policies, or practices that affect social determinants of health (SDOH) and to learn how changes in SDOH achieve health equity. The program encourages innovative health services research that can directly and demonstrably contribute to improving health outcomes for people from all minority populations. Applications are due April 1, 2025. Apply for this opportunity and learn about others: https://lnkd.in/eUz377HJ Please continue to share and circulate these opportunities with your network. #healthequity #fundingopportunity #grantfunding #sdoh

Structural racism is one of the leading barriers that results in inequities in conditions within and across communities. @The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) expects to award up to 30 grants of $50,000 each, with a period of performance of nine months. @The Urban Institute, as the?national coordinating center for this program, is collaborating with RWJF on program design, grantee support, and communications.
