September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Here at Rural Staffing Services (RSS), our mission is deeply personal. On September 19th, our founder, Stephanie Senger, faced one of life’s greatest challenges when her daughter, Sammy Brown, was diagnosed with high-risk T-cell leukemia. The odds weren’t in Sammy’s favor, but today she is a healthy and thriving 18-year-old woman. At the same time as Sammy’s diagnosis, Stephanie was nine months pregnant with her second child, Sayler, who was born just two days later. What followed were years of treatment, with the first four months spent inpatient. It was during this time that Stephanie witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication and compassion of healthcare professionals. During Sammy’s 3.5-year treatment journey, the impact of these professionals became clear—they were saving lives and supporting families in unimaginable ways. Their tireless efforts inspired the creation of RSS as a way to give back to those who had saved Sammy and continue supporting the healthcare community. By recruiting exceptional healthcare leaders for rural communities, we express our gratitude and help ensure the highest level of care reaches those who need it most. We watched many families experience loss during Sammy’s treatment, and through those dark days, we learned the power of community and the importance of hope. As we reflect on September—Childhood Cancer Awareness Month—we want to share this story and say thank you to all the healthcare heroes who make a difference every day. If you had told Stephanie back then that one day she would run her own business helping those who saved her daughter, it would have seemed impossible. But life can change in an instant, and here at RSS, we know how important it is to support and uplift each other. Today, we encourage everyone to hug their loved ones a little closer, spread kindness, and follow their dreams.
