Earlier this week, we celebrated the groundbreaking for the next phase of improvements at Tarkington Park! Thanks to a generous $3 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, the park will soon feature a new youth multi-sports field dedicated to Richard “Coach Nell” Hamilton—an inspiring community advocate and youth football coach. Additional enhancements include 70+ native hardwood trees, new walking pathways, four pickleball courts, a tennis court, and a new playscape, supported by an additional Butler University/Lilly Endowment grant. We’re proud to continue leading the design efforts for Tarkington Park and to build on a decade of shaping this community space! . She is a Kokomo native attending Ball State University - College of Architecture and Planning for a degree in landscape architecture with a minor in sustainability. Elizabeth was drawn to REA by our impact in her community and across the Indianapolis region. She’s excited to contribute to our projects and complete her capstone with us.
