Join communities across Australia who are taking steps to prevent family violence.

关于我们

Join us in creating healthy communities. Run Against Violence is a volunteer-based, member association established to use running and other sporting activities as a conduit for engaging the broader community in family violence prevention. We are on a mission to create a healthy relationship culture within our local communities, to remove the stigma and social barriers that often stop people from talking about their experiences with violence and asking for help when it is needed. Our approach is inclusive. We believe that anyone can be a target or perpetrator of family violence and that we all have a role to play in prevention. Whether you run, walk or roll, everyone is welcome. Each year, 1000’s of walkers and runners from around the world gather online to participate in the RAV Virtual Team Challenge. For 19 days from August 30th, teams of up to 20 people chase each other across the 1300km course, virtually.

We are pleased to advise that the 2025 RAV Grants program is now open! Applications for Love Bites Grants are invited until December 13th 2024. This program is entirely supported by Run Against Violence and our community. Funds raised from the 2024 RAV Virtual Challenge accounted for over $80,000 with RAV topping up this amount to achieve the total of $100,000 donated to NAPCAN for their 2025 grants program. Our partnership with NAPCAN helps to ensure that every teenager in Australia has the opportunity to learn about what healthy relationships look like for them. Over the last 5 years, the RAV Virtual Challenge has raised over half a million dollars. In 2024 RAV directly funded over $100,000 worth of Love Bites Facilitator training, building the capacity of communities to deliver Love Bites, Australia’s leading Respectful Relationships program program. Know a community organisation or school who might fit the bill? Full details can be found here.? https://lnkd.in/gQZd4jsN #RunAgainstViolence #RAVChallenge #EndFamilyViolence

"8 in 10 men want to take action. That’s a lot of allies. We often ask where are the good men? Well, they are here. We just need to support them so they know what to do. It’s about reaching the the men and boys who want to take action and make change, and that means reaching them where they’re at,"?Tarang Chawla. "[Education] needs to happen at home, at school and at the community level as well... The only way we do this is by education, so we have more people on the ground as role models and spreading the right messages about healthy masculinities," Ben Brown. Last night at Parliament House, we launched our new Men in Focus practitioner resources at an event co-hosted by the Parliamentary Friends to End Violence Against Women and Children. The evening MC’d by Our Watch CEO Patricia Kinnersly featured a beautiful Welcome to Country from Serena Williams and a panel discussion featuring Our Watch Chair Moo Baulch, Tarang Chawla and Ben Brown, as well as speeches from The Honourable Justine Elliot MP and Senator Larissa Waters. Promoting healthier masculinities and engaging men and boys is a key part of addressing the gendered drivers of violence against women and should be a central aspect of all prevention work.? It is time for men to become active allies. Men’s violence is not a ‘women’s issue’, it’s a societal issue and all men can play a role in helping to end violence against women. Reflections on where it all began from Kirrily Dear 10 years ago today.

I'm unifying Australian communities to reach Zero DFV // I write and speak about pushing personal limits.

Ten years ago today, I finished my first ultra-ultra-marathon, which I had intended to be a charity run. You know, the ones where a runner crosses an extraordinary distance and raises some dough. The cause I had chosen was to prevent violence against women. In 2014, I ran 860km (20 marathons) across regional NSW for 12 days during the hottest November in 57 years. Temperatures soared above 40 degrees Celsius. I ran, I talked, I raised money. But by the end, there was no way I could tick the box and walk away. Within a year, we established Run Against Violence and began engaging the broader community in conversations about family violence prevention. Within three years, we started Australia's longest and largest team event dedicated to ensuring every Australian teenager has access to respectful relationship education. Within seven years, I had conceptualised Zero DFV, Australia's first whole-of-community blueprint for building communities free of family violence. Then, this year, we launched Click Collab to address the massive fragmentation of community-led prevention efforts. When I first envisioned that "charity run" in 2014, I doubted my ability to make a real difference. I wasn't from the domestic violence sector, had no personal experience with family violence, nor was I a police officer or counsellor. I couldn't see what I had to offer. Ten years on, being the odd fit has proven to be my greatest asset. My fresh perspective, strategic thinking, passion, and persistence have driven innovation in addressing one of our country's most critical social issues. [PHOTO: I ran across there! This week I revisited the country I crossed in 2014. ] #16daysofactivism #ultramarathon #enddfv #zerodfv
