Rhinos Rugby and San Clemente Rhinos Collaborates with USA Men's 7s Team for Training in Chula Vista. Chula Vista, California – On January 11, 2025, Rhinos Rugby team traveled to Chula Vista to assist in the preparation of the USA Men's National Sevens Team with a situational training and hit out. The Rhinos Rugby squad featured high-performance players while collaborating to showcase some of the best Southern California college players: UCLA Rugby (Dayen Joyce & Josh Cox) USD Rugby (Caleb Tomasin & Josh Butler) Loyola Marymount University (Brad Aryeh) Rhinos continues its collaboration with Belmont Shore as well, featuring Tyler Sisley and Esteban Tupuola, while Benji Biutu returns from the Rugby Tens Championship event. Todd Clever, General Manager of San Clemente Rhinos and Rhinos Rugby, stated, “Our main goal in coming down was to help prepare the USA 7s national team for their upcoming tournament. We aimed to support set piece, show a different defensive structure, and attack strategies. I'm proud to have brought on some of the top collegiate rugby players in Southern California to join the Rhinos. My goal is to provide opportunities for athletes to be seen and to serve as a springboard for their next rugby journey. It was great to showcase American talent in front of new USA coach Simon Amor.” Clever added, “ Overall, I think the hit out was fantastic. It's great to continue our collaboration with USA 7s. With our High-Performance resources and global presence, we are proud to support all USA national teams for years to come.” About Rhinos Rugby: Rhinos Rugby is dedicated to identifying and developing rugby talent in USA and providing competition opportunities for athletes to perform at high levels. The Rugby Tens has wrapped up, and what an incredible journey it has been! In October, I had the honor of representing San Diego as captain of the first San Diego Legion Women’s side. However, it was an absolute privilege to put on black and yellow for the Cape Town Wild Dogs during the November Championship Series. Rugby is a sport that thrives on values like equality and inclusivity, and the Wild Dogs exemplified these principles in every way. With players from 10 different countries, the Wild Dogs created a melting pot of cultures, languages and traditions that made this experience unforgettable. Beyond the gold medals and the big check, we walked away with a new rugby family spanning the globe. Balancing life as a high-performance rugby player and a working professional takes sacrifice, but I’m fortunate to have the unwavering support of both my coaches and my team at the San Diego Tourism Authority. Their understanding allows me to pursue my passion for rugby while excelling in my career. Being part of the Cape Town Wild Dogs was nothing short of extraordinary, and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to wear black and yellow.
