Congratulations! Nathan Schroeder has been promoted to Vice President for GEM Inc. After an internship with Rudolph Libbe Inc., Nate joined GEM in 2008 as a Project Engineer, and has subsequently held the roles of Project Manager and Mechanical Group Manager. In his time at GEM, he has helped lead the growth of the business in areas such as improving RLG's design-build and design-assist capabilities and overseeing the addition of sheet metal as a self-perform offering. Congratulations! Joe Pesci has been promoted to Vice President for GEM Inc. After working in the manufacturing industry as a Project Engineer and Plant Engineer, Joe began his career at GEM in 2005 as a Project Engineer. He subsequently held the roles of Project Manager, Insulation Operations Manager, and Mechanical Group Manager. In his time at GEM, Joe has helped facilitate growth in all areas of the business and has been instrumental in training and procedure development throughout the company. Growing up, many young girls do not realize their potential for a career in construction. The language around the industry creates the impression among women that construction is a male-dominated field, quickly diminishing their consideration of joining this workforce. We are inspired by the RLG women every day, both in the field and in the office. From operating machinery, welding, working with sheet metal, engineering, estimating, dispatching, administrating, HR, sales, marketing, and accounting, we have women who can do it all. They create a strong sense of empowerment every day and embody role models for future generations of women in construction. African Americans and Labor is the theme for Black History Month 2025. The Association for the Study of African American Life and History says understanding the many facets and impact of Black labor is critical to understanding Black people, their histories, lives and cultures. This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the creation of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and Maids by labor organizer and civil rights activist A. Phillip Randolph.
