We're excited to partner with Kim Buncle and GitLab to help them meet their sustainability goals. Check it out: ??
Finding creative ways to grow our climate action program at an all remote company can sometimes be a challenge, but I am excited to share two new initiatives we launched this week for GitLab's Global Virtual Sales Kickoff: ??We expanded our partnership with Tree-Nation and planted a tree for every attendee, contributing over 1,000 trees to projects around the world. These projects span wildfire recovery in the US, community reforestation in Indonesia, sustainable land management in Senegal, agroforestry in the Bolivian Amazon, and climate-smart forests in Romania. ?? We also purchased high quality carbon removal credits to cover the work from home emissions for all attendees for an entire year. We partner with Rubicon Carbon for our carbon credit portfolio because we understand the importance of high integrity carbon credits. These initiatives contribute to the Engage and Accelerate pillars of our Climate Action program (https://lnkd.in/grzPHhTM) and showcase how our distributed team continues to drive environmental impact no matter where we work.

This article from Trellis Group highlights how an overemphasis on permanence is delaying funding and support for nature-based solutions—like reforestation and soil carbon sequestration—that can make an immediate impact. While technological solutions have a role to play in fighting climate change,?dismissing nature-based strategies because they don’t lock away carbon for centuries is a dangerous distraction. Instead of overly fixating on theoretical durability, we need to scale the solutions available today.?The climate crisis demands urgent action, and every tonne of carbon removed now buys us critical time.
