Next week it’s “Rubber Explained” from ACE Laboratories! There’s still time to sign up for our popular “Rubber Explained” course on September 24-25, led by Kylie Knipp, ACE’s Senior Technical Account Manager. The course runs from 9 am to 3 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, Twinsburg, including lunch (and then there’s the opportunity to stay for the Ohio Rubber Group Technical Meeting from 4 - 9 pm). On the following day, September 25, join us for a tour of our laboratories from 9 - 11 am. We have had hundreds of rubber industry professionals and students take this course as part of the extensive range of training and educational opportunities offered by Rubber Division, ACS. Designed for newcomers to the industry, non-technical professionals, and students, it covers the basic theory and fundamentals of the industry, including raw materials, formulations, costings, mixing, fabrication processes, and testing methods. Attendees will receive continuing education units (CEUs) through a Rubber Division, ACS partnership with The University of Akron. The course is free for Rubber Division, ACS Undergraduate Student Members, $100 for other student members, and Ohio Rubber Group members can attend at no cost. ??WOMEN OF OUR INDUSTRY: Join us October 2, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. ET for our WORD Conversation with featured guest Marjolein Groeneweg and a Falling Into Fall theme. This WORD Conversation begins with open networking for approximately 10 minutes followed by a conversation between our featured guest, Marjolein Groeneweg, Global Marketing Director, Synthetic Rubber at Synthos, and Gail Reader, Founder/Director at Rubber Heart. ??This event will be held via Zoom and registration is free. Falling Into Fall will be our theme so wear your favorite fall attire or accessories, show off your fall decor or kick back with a pumpkin spiced beverage. REGISTER: https://bit.ly/4dmgyf7 ?About Marjolein Groeneweg: Marjolein Groeneweg, a Dutch national, began her career with Dow Chemical Company in the UK, in plastics sales. Progressing through key sales roles focusing on the UK, Nordic and Benelux, she moved to Germany in 2007, becoming Dow's Business Development Manager for its automotive division. Upon Dow's sale of the business to Trinseo in 2010, she took on the role of Marketing Manager. Marjolein's passion for marketing communications led her to oversee global marketing communications activities for Trinseo’s Automotive and Engineered Materials businesses, which expanded to include synthetic rubber in 2020. In 2021, when Synthos acquired Trinseo's synthetic rubber business, Marjolein was chosen to lead the global strategic marketing activities for Europe's largest producer of synthetic rubber and a global leader in the industry’s transition to lower carbon-footprint materials. #WORD #RubberIndustry

Loved speaking in front of the beautiful and fearless female leaders in the Rubber industry at the annual #RubberIEC conference hosted by Rubber Division, ACS led by Lakisha Barclay! We learned, demonstrated, and practiced how to elevate emotional intelligence using a powerful Mind-Body approach. When I had a technology glitch playing a coaching demo video, Adrienne Novack from ABB stepped up and we did it live! The audience loved the live demo, bravo Adrienne! The session was followed by a leadership panel discussion with 3 powerful women: Erin Pustay Beaven from Rubber News of Crain Communications, Erin Spring from The Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company, and Angela Zambanini from Parker Lord, moderated by the fabulous Lakisha Barclay, CAE, EA. Inspirations filled the room. The audience’s overwhelming takeaway is:?Authenticity is good! Cheers to all women leaders! Cheers to all leaders striving for #authenticity! #EmotionalIntelligence #AuthenticLeadership #MindBodyLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment? #Leadership #Coaching

Another successful IEC for the books! If you would have told me three years ago that one of the highlights of my year would be a rubber conference, I would have thought you were crazy! I had so much fun getting to make new connections and talk with old ones! Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to speak with me - it means a lot and I really appreciate it! Thank you so much to the Rubber Division, ACS and their company sponsors for getting me to my third IEC in a row! Also, a huge thank you to ACE Laboratories for including me as part of the team and for helping to expand my network! I thoroughly enjoyed helping with the high school event on Thursday and was honored to teach at my very own station - I love getting students involved and educated regarding our great industry! I have to extend a shoutout to the University of Massachusetts Lowell as well, and thank all of my Professors for being so supportive towards this conference. I loved getting to hang out with my new group of #rubbernerds as well! I can’t wait to see everyone again in Cleveland next year! #rubbernerd #IEC2024 #Cleveland2025

When designing a rubber component it is important to analyze durability in terms of structural integrity and by “wear and tear”. This analysis starts with good materials data and includes specific workflows, simulations and material characterizations. There are machines to measure fast, aggressive wear - chipping and flaking. Slow wear - friction and abrasion - is predicted by combining the materials characterization with frictional energy loss through finite element techniques. Endurica’s workflows combine all of this so you can evaluate if your component will wear out before it blows out! Don't miss cutting-edge insights from Dr. William Mars who will be sharing information recently presented at the Rubber Division, ACS technical meeting. Join us to discover: -The physics governing wear and chip & cut phenomena in rubber -How Endurica's workflows are different from other durability analysis workflows -Typical testing machines and tests for friction, abrasion and cut & chip characterization -Methods to combine wear and structural fatigue for an overall look at product durability. https://lnkd.in/esaJzE4X
