The purpose of this organization is to sustain health professions education in rural places through mutual encouragement, peer learning, practice improvement, and the delivery of technical expertise, all in support of a quality rural workforce. The RTT* Collaborative (“the Collaborative,” or RTTC) is a board directed cooperative of participating programs and individuals committed to this mission. The Collaborative emerged as a sustainable non-profit from the RTT Technical Assistance Program, a Federal Office of Rural Health funded program from 2010-2016.

Dr. Keri Bergeson was selected earlier this year as the new Associate Director of the Rural Medical Training Collaboeative after a national search. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School and has extensive experience as a rural family physician, a rural program director and now as an expert advisor to developing rural GME programs. She has served on the board of directors for the Rural Medical Training Collaborative since 2020 so she knows firsthand how important the work of the RMTC is! In addition to her role with RMTC, she is also the Director of Rural Programs for the University of Minnesota and serves as advisor and ongoing support for rural GME development in the state of Minnesota. Welcome to the RMTC team, Dr. Bergeson!
