RTM gatherings never disappoint! It has been a fun few days engaging with colleagues across the U.S. leading in times of challenge, opportunity and change. Thanks to Paul Ross, Sam Kann and Ben Lim for being such an exceptional and diverse panel of colleagues to talk about the key role CIOs play in shaping our future and supporting a today and forward-thinking strategy through so much unknown. I also had the chance to lead a small group in the afternoon through an exercise that focuses on successes, trends and wins in our work. Leading with positivity and a lens on what works can change the energy and support different outcomes. We know this work can be hard, really hard. It can also be positive and rewarding and create the change our students need to excel. The skills we documented as a group of IT leaders showcases the IT leadership qualities we need today and moving forward to navigate this change. No one person has them all, so a loud call to action to encourage collaboration, build diverse and dynamic teams, support and model shared power, and prioritize empathy and humanity through it all. Now that the storm has cleared, I can take a breath and reflect on the past week. ?? My experience representing Ativion at RTM Business Group CIO Congress in Orlando was extraordinary. I have never witnessed such an organized, empathetic response to reorganizing an event of this scale. The lift of the RTM team is incredible. We got be part of a valuable event despite Milton’s best efforts. Events like RTM highlight the importance of connection. There is value in being able connect as professionals and humans. I was a ball of nerves leaving Tuesday, but I also could smile knowing I had some amazing new people in my corner. I’m so grateful myself and Dan Cooper were able to fly out well ahead of the storm. Big thanks to Delta Air Lines for getting us out safely. (We didn’t get stranded at the airport like we feared Neil Bolton). ?? To all my family and friends, new and old, in Florida, my thoughts are with you as you begin to recover. Coming off the heels of Helene myself, I’m devestated for the road you have ahead.
