?? Approximately 70% of the world’s ammonia is used to manufacture fertilizer, but traditional production methods rely on fossil fuels and generate extensive greenhouse gas emissions. Green ammonia holds great potential to decarbonize agricultural industries and drive renewable energy deployment. At RTI International, we’re driving sustainable solutions for food security in Africa through innovative green fertilizer production. Recently, we supported research led by Pablo Torres and Sameer Parvathikar, in collaboration with Power-to-X Analytics, to assess the viability of producing green fertilizers in four African countries. This effort aims to reduce reliance on imports, lower costs for farmers, and contribute to climate resilience. Trachoma is one of the most prevalent neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) around the world. #Mozambique is making significant strides toward eliminating #trachoma, a leading cause of infectious blindness, thanks to strong government leadership and support from the USAID Act to End NTDs | East program, led by RTI International. Despite progress, several districts still face challenges, with the prevalence of trachomatous inflammation-follicular (TF) remaining above the elimination threshold. A recent survey incorporated innovative testing methods, including blood samples and eye swabs, providing critical insights into community-level transmission. This approach is key to accelerating trachoma elimination in Mozambique. ?? Read more about this novel approach in supporting trachoma elimination in Mozambique: https://ow.ly/A9BO50TMASx
