Student Spotlight: Jeffrey, Water & Wastewater Technology
Meet Jeffrey, a proud SCC Water & Wastewater Technology student who turned curiosity into a fulfilling career in the water industry!
How It Started:
"I didn’t have a plan after high school, but my cousin’s husband, a water operator, encouraged me to try a few water courses. I enrolled in Water Math, Water Treatment, and Water Distribution at SCC – and I was hooked! After passing my T2 and D2 certification exams, I decided to complete the full program."
Where He Is Now:
Today, Jeffrey is a Customer Experience Representative at Western Municipal Water District, specializing in Water Use Efficiency and Education. From managing rebates and leak notifications to hosting educational booths at community events, Jeffrey is making a real impact on water conservation in Southern California.
What He Loves:
"I love the water-use efficiency community. It’s a collaborative, welcoming space where everyone is willing to help. Plus, it feels incredible to educate the public on how much work goes into supplying water to our region."
Jeffrey’s Advice for Future Students:
"Network, network, network! Attend industry events, visit agencies, and ask questions. Exposure to the field and building connections can open doors you didn’t know existed."
We’re proud of your success, Jeffrey! Thank you for being a champion of water efficiency.
