Are you a K-12 or community college instructor in health or biotechnology interested in learning how AI is transforming these fields? If so, the Orange County Regional Consortium and the TGR Foundation have developed an AI Faculty Externship program! This program is set to kick-off in February and is only available for 30 Orange County K-12 and community college health and biotechnology instructors. The 3-day externship experience will provide participants with a better understanding of how AI is being utilized in bith health and biotechnology industries. Participants will also interact with industry leaders through site visits. Lastly, participants will collaborate to strategize ways to imbed the new found information into curriculum and how best to strengthen their K-14 pathway alignment. This week was packed with excitement and opportunities at the Transfer Center! Thanks to the incredible coordination by Miguel Luna, SCC hosted a Transfer Fair where students explored their options and connected with a variety of colleges and universities to find the perfect fit for their academic futures. As part of our ongoing First Gen to Doctor speaking series, we were honored to welcome George Parker, Ed.D.. With a backdrop of cold brews and desserts, Dr. Parker shared insights from his research on Men of Color in Student Affairs, inspiring students with his journey and dedication to impactful work in education. Santiago Canyon College’s Fall Concert, held Nov. 7, was a night of music and celebration, highlighted by a special tribute to SCC alumnus and New York-based composer Victor Gutierrez, whose inspiring journey from student to musician was honored at the event. The evening not only celebrated Gutierrez and his accomplishments but also highlighted the powerful role of art in education and its impact on the community. “SCC has been a huge cornerstone in my foundation as a composer,” Gutierrez said. “I’m eternally grateful for them.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/gJb2wTgC

Santiago Canyon College proudly celebrates National Apprenticeship Week (Nov. 17-23). The weeklong celebration showcases the value of Registered Apprenticeship in developing a highly skilled workforce that meets industry needs, creating pathways for career seekers to catapult into good jobs, advancing racial and gender equity and strengthening our economy. SCC furnishes the second-largest apprenticeship program among the 116 California Community Colleges, boasting more than 5,700 apprenticeship students. SCC programs that focus on the traditional trades — those that involve partnerships between the college and professional trade organizations — lead to jobs as electricians, power linemen, operating engineers, surveyors, machine operators and more. #NAW2024

Santa Ana College recognized Adan Salvador during the regularly scheduled board of trustees meeting on November 12. Adan Salvador served six years in the U.S. Army as a 19 Delta Cavalry Scout and is now pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at SAC. #SAC #SACSuccess
