As the year comes to a close, at RSA US, we invite you to slow down, #connect, and #reflect with us. Our new Get Connected events are designed to build meaningful #relationships within our US Fellows community—a warm, supportive environment to explore the highs and lows of the past year, celebrate successes, and embrace the opportunities we’ve each encountered. In these 60-minute gatherings, we’re carving out space to reflect together, share our experiences, and foster a sense of #belonging amidst a backdrop of increasing loneliness and polarization. We’ll kick off with a welcoming activity to break the ice and set the tone for #authenticconnection. Based on your interests and energy, we'll adapt the session to make sure you leave with fresh perspectives and new friendships. Let’s reflect, connect, and look ahead together: https://lnkd.in/gaZjv3Jy

Join the Augmented Society Network on November 21 for an important conversation led by Zo? Camper FRSA and Julie Samuels FRSA about the role of audio surveillance in the workplace. Video surveillance has long been a part of our cities and public spaces, but now audio surveillance has become ubiquitous, extending into our homes and offices, listening to both our best and less-than-best moments. While it may be expected in personal spaces, its presence in the workplace is a new and concerning development, especially with AI tools like Otter and Copilot. These technologies record and summarize meetings, then share the content with those in charge. Have you ever made an off-the-cuff comment in a meeting that wasn’t meant to be shared? Imagine your words being transcribed, summarized by an AI, and sent as a report to a boss who wasn’t present. This opens an entirely new frontier that demands discussion. The impact of this technology needs to be fully understood by everyone involved, not just those receiving the meeting notes. #WorkplaceTechnology #AudioSurveillance #DigitalWorkplace #TechTalk #WorkplaceSafety Register here: https://lnkd.in/g3qHtz5W

We know many, including our team, are grappling with intense feelings following the election. At a time of such powerful division, regardless of your political affiliation, we recognize and honor where you find yourself as you read this and offer our #commitment to creating #safe and #inclusive spaces for civil dialogue and discussion. So much of our work together and through our Fellowship network is focused on creating avenues for #authentic #connection, discovering our agency, finding allies, re-discovering a sense of #purpose and building a microcosm of the type of #civic culture we would like to see in the world.? For us, the work of bridging divides - across disciplines, cultures, geographies, political and religious views, and economic circumstance - is paramount as we look for common ground to #improve society. We are excited to continue to partner with our Fellows in the work ahead. Now more than ever, our actions (big or small) have the potential to inform an American culture that is wrestling with itself and its next chapter.?? - RSA US Team

RSA Fellows are creating change in nearly every area you can image. With the election coming up next week, we are honored to share the work of a few Fellows here in the U.S. creating civic change. Founder of Spread The Vote, Kat Calvin FRSA is working to ensure incarcerated citizens, who have retained their right to vote have the information and resources needed to cast their ballots. Vote By Mail in Jail (VBMIJ), the cornerstone program of Spread The Vote’s Justice Services Department, provides resources for jailed voters to enable them to cast a ballot while incarcerated. In 2022, VBMIJ assisted incarcerated citizens with registering to vote and voting via absentee ballot through the recruitment and training of detention centers and staff, development and distribution of custom-designed voter guides, election reminder postcards, recorded PSAs, template registration forms, secure submission boxes and a host of other state-specific materials resulting in a 79.4% turnout among incarcerated citizens who voted in jails across Michigan, Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, Washington, North Carolina, and New York.
