So, second cohort trained in field impairment testing and drug influence recognition at Bedfordshire headquarters. Yet again, great feedback received! There are now 24 newly trained officers ready to hit the streets and make our roads safer

Just finished our two day field impairment and drug influence recognition course at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters. Twelve officers ( both roads policing and response) trained to conduct field impairment tests to the national standard. Excellent feedback received. Escooters, electrically assisted pedal cycles and other powered transporters are common on our streets and pedestrian precincts. The question is, how do we deal with these to make our communities and vulnerable road users safe, and how do we help officers deal with incidents involving these types of vehicle? Why oh why are we still putting all our eggs in one basket and charging death by dangerous when there is another offence that fits better and carries a life sentence also. We would like to thank Mercedes at Tankersley today for accommodating us and making us feel extremely welcome. Eleven officers learned about the new safety features and also had the opportunity to drive vehicles in a controlled environment. The officers gained an invaluable experience and appreciation for these vehicles.
