Continuity of Community to Drive Innovation at #AURP2024. This week, our team joined the?Association of University Research Parks (AURP) for the international conference and had the opportunity to explore how innovation communities drive global ecosystem growth, attract industry partners, and leverage university technology commercialization! As the director of experiential learning for the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Caroline Hinton facilitates connections between students and their fields of study outside the classroom. “I find joy and excitement in getting to watch students experience different parts of agriculture and find a place in our state’s own agriculture industry,” she said. That joy comes naturally to Hinton, whose family was instrumental in the creation of Rowen. In 1994, Gwinnett County was the largest county east of the Mississippi without a four-year college. Community leaders set out to change that. Founded on 160 acres of land designated for a college campus, Georgia Gwinnett College opened its doors in 2006 as the first four-year college founded in Georgia in more than 100 years, and the first four-year, public college created in the U.S. in the 21st century.
