The Jersey Management by Students program at the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences provides animal and dairy science majors with valuable skills in livestock breeding. UGA’s Jersey herd is recognized as one of the top-ranked college herds by the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA) through its REAP program, which stands for Registration, Equity, Appraisal and Performance. Bradley Taylor of Taylor Jersey Farm in Booneville, Mississippi, said “The fact that a Southern university is investing in the future of the Southern dairy industry and the Jersey breed is something I want to support. GRA Eminent Scholar Dr. Jeffrey Skolnick and colleague Dr. Mu Gao have developed AF2Complex, a deep learning model that predicts which antibodies are most likely to bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Published in PNAS, their tool accurately predicts 90% of the best antibodies for neutralizing the virus, offering promising new possibilities for antibody-based therapies.
