A national leader in engineering education, the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering (COE) was founded in 1995. The College and its programs, professors and students have received regional, national and international recognition since the start. The College provides a hands-on, minds-on experience that is nationally recognized. We offer degree programs in the following disciplines: biomedical, chemical, civil & environmental, construction management, electrical & computer, engineering entrepreneurship, engineering management and mechanical engineering. In 2013, the State of New Jersey designated Rowan University a comprehensive research university, and in 2017 our University was recognized as a Carnegie-classified research institution. During that period, Rowan Engineering doubled both its full-time faculty and student population. In 2017, we opened the doors of Engineering Hall and completed a full renovation of our original home, Rowan Hall. These projects tripled our available space and provided the College with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities.

Rowan University has been selected as an academic partner in cold regions research by ADAC-ARCTIC, a DHS Science and Technology Directorate Center of Excellence based at the University of Alaska Anchorage. As the only DHS center focused on the Arctic, ADAC-ARCTIC conducts research to address national security concerns related to the region’s changing conditions. "This partnership opens significant research opportunities for Rowan,” said?Yusuf Mehta, Ph.D., director of Rowan’s CREATES. To tackle wrong-way driving incidents, the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2 million SMART grant to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). Rowan University is part of the research team, led by AtkinsRéalis USA, Inc., under Dr. Mohammad Jalayer. The team will use data analytics to assess the effectiveness of two Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in New Jersey, which integrate advanced communication technologies into vehicles and infrastructure, including electronic toll collection and traffic signal coordination. ? Antonios Kontsos, a professor at Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, launched a pioneering pilot education program at the University of Thessaly in Volos, Greece. Over five days in July, Kontsos, who serves as the Director of DEHub and a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, led the inaugural Digital Design & Advanced Manufacturing Summer School (DDAM) in collaboration with the University of Thessaly's Department of Mechanical Engineering.
