This weekend, Rowan University’s Beta Rho Chapter of Pi Tau Sigma attended the 2025 National Convention at Texas Tech University! Pi Tau Sigma, the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, is built on the core values of integrity, service, and leadership—and this event was a fantastic opportunity to uphold those principles. Four members of our executive board proudly represented Rowan: Evan Bretz – President Vanessa Hutchinson – Vice President Aidan Ritter – Events Coordinator Lawrence Agostini – Treasurer With over 40 chapters in attendance, these Rowan ME students gained valuable insights and ideas to bring back to Rowan, strengthening our chapter for the future. A special thank you to National Board members: Dr. Antonios Kontsos and Dr. Yolanda Mack, Ph.D. Mack for representing Rowan University and Rowan University Mechanical Engineering Engineering on the national stage!"

Meet Behrad Koohbor, Ph.D., an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering! Imagine the foam beneath a car bumper — it absorbs the impact in a crash, protecting the driver and passengers. But once it’s damaged, it’s replaced. What if we could design energy-absorbing materials that could be reused and were even lighter? That’s exactly what Dr. Koohbor is researching in his lab! He focuses on designing, testing, and optimizing energy-absorbing structures used for impact mitigation and shock absorption. These innovations have broad applications, from sports helmets and shoe soles to cutting-edge technology in the aerospace and automotive industries. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e86eVmF4
