For elections offices, a .gov domain could help voters find accurate government information among the murky waters of online misinformation. But elections offices are still lagging in adopting the domain, according to data analysis by the Bipartisan Policy Center, which earlier this year found that 31% of election websites use .gov. That’s an increase from a 2022 report by the Center for Democracy & Technology, which found that only one quarter of websites use the domain. Learn why some offices are slow to adopt .gov here: https://lnkd.in/erK9TJ4u

For those of us in the government technology market, the last couple of decades have been quite a ride, full of innovation, cash injections from venture capitalists, and a lot of market twists and turns. We've gone from the early 2000s' explosion of early stage startups aiming to drag government operations into the 21st century to the more recent scene dominated by established players and big private equity investments. There is a lot of expectation that we’ll continue to see a really active private equity market for govtech, especially related to roll-up and tuck-in deals that respond to the growing need for the government to adopt enterprise rather than point source solutions. However, I believe that conditions are ripe for another explosion of early stage govtech startups in the next few years. Nearly every state has a statewide longitudinal education and workforce data system (SLDS), which collects information about an individual’s education and training experiences to track employment and wage outcomes. Combined with AI, a robust SLDS can generate incredible insights for individuals as well as agency users. With this understanding at their fingertips, states can tailor and optimize programs and interventions for a person’s specific background and goals—particularly jobseekers—while minding privacy and security considerations.?
