Specialty care in the US does not work today. After years of spending time thinking about what the future of specialty care needs to look and feel like, I couldn't be more excited to get to share our thesis that led us to incubate Switchboard Health. One of the largest challenges when incubating a company is finding the right CEO and building the team. We feel incredibly lucky that we met Derek Baird and are excited to get to collaborate with him and the amazing Switchboard team on the journey forward. Read on to learn about our thesis and vision for Switchboard. The journey is just beginning. Onward! #digitalhealth #venture

We've been thinking a lot about the future of primary care... Like Arif Sorathia mentioned, we would love to connect if you have as well!

If you or anyone you know has been impacted by the recent turmoil in primary care, please reach out! We at Route 66 Ventures continue to have deep conviction that we are in the early innings of re-imagining primary care. I am biased. My dad was an independent primary care physician and my mom was the office manager. Much to the chagrin of my sister and I, the challenges and opportunities of primary care as a business was common dinnertime conversation. I believe, at the core, the business of primary care is a market failure. Primary care can’t be seen as the rotisserie chicken of healthcare, its job to be a loss leader - shuttling patients to high margin services. Value-based primary care is likely the future, but it’s still early and not without its own challenges. Transforming primary care will take conviction and persistence. It will happen through a sophisticated blend of technology and commercial innovation. It won’t be easy BUT - to any clinicians, administrators, or executives that joined an org that has lost its conviction - we are still building and investing in the future of primary care and would love to be helpful.
