  • It was a crisp November evening when the community gathered for the last Open Studio of the 2024 residency season. The waxing crescent moon was high in the darkening sky, glowing over the Dairy Barn, with its light spilling on the barn quilts that efface several buildings. The Open Studio began in the classroom, where Arts Program Manager Ana Varas, PhD welcomed the sold-out crowd and introduced four artists in residence:?Sylvia Friday, Jackleen de La Harpe, and Arūnas and Katie O?lapas, Shortly thereafter, the Open Studio attendees split into three groups which rotated through each of the artist’s studios on The Ranch: Sylvia in the Pickle Room; Jackleen in the Upstairs Studio; and Arūnas and Katie in the Old Shop. Last week, Rebeckah Berry, MS, MCHES?, Grants Program Manager, attended the 41st Oregon Rural Health Conference, hosted by the Oregon Office of Rural Health. This event offered a valuable opportunity to engage in insightful sessions, connect with innovative organizations, and celebrate the achievements of various community partners including some of those supported by the Roundhouse Foundation. For those living in rural or remote areas of Oregon, this conference is a key resource. Discussions covered rural traditional health worker initiatives, Tribally-led health workforce development, telehealth advancements, and community-based nursing efforts. The award luncheon recognized outstanding individuals and organizations, including Michael Baker of Jefferson County Public Health and Wallowa Memorial Hospital, showcasing the remarkable work happening throughout Oregon's communities. Some photos below include the South Morrow County Seniors Matter team, Wallowa Memorial Hospital receiving their award, Patty Barfield, Dean of Nursing at OHSU School of Nursing, Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Erin Collins from The Peaceful Presence Project, Oralia Mendez, MPH (OSU CHW Manager), Albert Pacheco, CEO of Asher Community Health in Fossil, Spray, Mitchell, and Christmas Valley, and Robert Duehmig, Director of the Oregon Office of Rural Health. So glad we were able to celebrate these organizations as they foster positive change in rural health. #OregonRuralHealthConference #RuralHealth #CommunityImpact #RoundhouseFoundation #HealthcareInnovation
