Our Interact Club at Carnegie Vanguard High School continues to make a meaningful impact through leadership and service! Recently, two of our Interactors participated in a tree planting initiative, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. Their willingness to take action reflects the values of Rotary and the importance of service-driven leadership. Additionally, three Interactors attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), where they developed leadership skills, collaborated with peers, and gained valuable insights into service and personal growth. Their participation highlights the potential of young leaders who are eager to make a difference. We’re proud of our club’s very own Quinn Edgecomb, who is our District 5890 RYLA Chair Looking ahead, the club is preparing for its annual International Festival (iFest) on April 4, a celebration of cultural diversity and global awareness. This event will showcase the students’ dedication to fostering international understanding and community engagement. We are proud of these students for their dedication to leadership and service. Their efforts continue to strengthen our community and embody the mission of Rotary. #InteractClub #ServiceAboveSelf #RotaryYouth #RYLA #LeadershipDevelopment #CommunityImpact #iFest2025 #RotaryHoustonSkyline

Successful Project Completion: 600 Trees Planted on the Columbia Tap Trail After a year of planning, stakeholder coordination, and on-the-ground execution, we set out to plant 500 trees along the Columbia Tap Trail—and exceeded expectations with over 600 trees now in place. This effort replaces trees lost to Hurricane Beryl and the derecho while expanding our urban canopy and enhancing environmental resilience. Key partners, including Houston Wilderness and Trees For Houston played a crucial role in providing resources, while dedicated volunteers—Interactors, Rotaractors, Rotarians, Scouts, and community groups—were instrumental in bringing this project to life. Their collective effort ensured the successful delivery of this initiative. Operational support from University of Houston Rotary Club of Houston Skyline, EaDough Pastries, and Workshop Houston kept the team energized throughout the day. Additionally, Rotary International District 5890 Governor Nancy Anderson in collaboration with our club President Elect Joseph Johnson whose donation of gardening tools to Texas Southern University Community Farm strengthens long-term sustainability for future green space maintenance. With continued stakeholder collaboration and stewardship, we look forward to sustaining and expanding this impact. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and resources. Let’s keep growing. #ServiceAboveSelf #RotaryInAction #CommunityPower

??? Building a Haven for Pollinators at the AIDS Memorial Garden ??? Today was another rewarding day as we worked on creating a Butterfly Pollinator Garden at the AIDS Memorial Garden! This initiative is supported by a generous $500 grant from the Clear Lake Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas, and we’re thrilled to see the progress. We prepared the space for planting once the freeze weather passes, while also planting other pollinator-friendly plants nearby. ???? Alongside these efforts, we built a bench for walkers to enjoy a small but meaningful addition to the garden. The day involved mixing organic soil to enrich the planting area, ensuring these pollinators will thrive in their new habitat. I’m so grateful for the support and collaboration of incredible organizations, including: ?? Houston Beekeepers Association ?? Rotary Club of Houston Skyline ?? Friends of Columbia Tap ?? Houston Bike Ride ?? Rotaract Club of Houston Innovator Corridor Your support makes it possible to create spaces that not only beautify our environment but also sustain pollinators vital to our ecosystem. Special thanks to my CSP fellows for inspiring environmental action everywhere! Let’s continue working together for a greener, healthier world. ???? #PollinatorGarden #ButterflyGarden #EnvironmentalSustainability #CommunityAction #CSPFellows #RotaryClub #PollinatorFriendly
