The Rotary Club of Cedar Park—Leander had the honor of presenting a check to Reed Elementary School’s PTA. The school’s librarian will purchase books, which will be presented by Rotary Club members to the students later this year. This project supports the Rotary Club’s reading and literacy goals. Representing the Rotary Club were Dee Ann Thomas (club president), Jerry W Chapman (club president-elect), Woody Engebretson, Linda Starnes, and Joe Dahlstrom. #rotarycedarparkleander #1districtstrong #literacy #education #rotarians

We accomplished an important goal! After a wonderful Charity Garden Party fundraiser hosted by N2 Gives and organized by Jen Pizer the Club had $2500 to serve our community. Working with Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area and The Craftsman Center in Taylor, we met with five Apprentice Plumbers being trained by Coppera Plumbing to give each of them a $500 grant to support their education in a trade. When asked what they would do with the funds, they all said they would purchase professional-grade power tools. Four planned to get impact hammer drills and one planned to get a copper pipe cutter. They were thrilled to be able to afford high-quality products. When asked what were the most interesting jobs they had worked on so far, the answers ranged from rehabbing an old school building with miles of ancient pipes to prepping and assembling and installing a new restaurant's 4,000-gallon grease trap and tank to be buried 12 feet underground.
