Rotaplast Executive Director Daniel DeSanto is now an official Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco (#2)! Established in 1908, this Club was pivotal in the reconstruction of San Francisco following the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire. Known as the second oldest Rotary Club globally, the Rotary Club of San Francisco, affectionately referred to as "Club #2," has maintained a significant impact within Rotary International, in San Francisco, and worldwide. Rotaplast International, Inc. is committed to helping children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities. Working with local professionals, Rotarians, and other organizations, Rotaplast sends multidisciplinary medical teams to provide free reconstructive surgery, ancillary treatment, and training for the comprehensive care of these children. Rotaplast supports education and research towards prevention of cleft lip and/or palate. Our aim is to help local professionals build sustainable models for the care of these children, improving their lives and those of their families.

With three operating rooms buzzing with #PeopleOfAction - including Rotaplast volunteers, Rotarians, Rotaract members, medical residents, community partners, and more - we witnessed extraordinary transformations. Located in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, Kiruddu National Referral Hospital is the focal point of our 2024 Rotaplast surgical trip. It is a public tertiary hospital under the management of the Ministry of Health, serving as a major referral center for patients across the country and also functioning as a teaching facility for Makerere University’s College of Health Sciences.
