关于我们
WELCOME TO ROSWELL ROTARY NANCY ALTERMAN, PRESIDENT 2024-25 Rotary is an international organization with over 1.2 million members For over 70 years, we've proudly served our community with diverse members dedicated to our motto: "Service Above Self." Our theme for 2024-25 is "Energize Roswell Through the Magic of Rotary," and we are people of action, committed to community projects that focus on vocational education, seniors, veterans, and youth. We invite you to learn more about us and join our cause. Together, we can make a lasting impact. Our signature event is the Aubrey Greenway Golf and the Hagan Cup Tennis Tournaments. These tournaments serve as our main fundraiser and engage our 240 members in a one day event that includes a full day of golf, a tennis tournament, an after party, and silent/live auctions. The event typically raises over $150,000. Proceeds fund an annual Community Impact Project as well as provides grants to various charities during our Rotary year; helping organizations large and small fulfill their charitable missions. ?? New Member Spotlight, Shannon Harrison ?? Sharon was raised in a military family and was fortunate to live in a variety of states, including Oahu, HI. When her father retired, the family moved to Alabama. Until 2021, I lived and raised my family in Dothan, AL. My adult children include her son Brock, his precious wife Tori, and their grandbabies, Everleigh and Eli, as well as her two beautiful daughters; Lillie Kathryn and Sophie. Sophie is married to Sam Hughes. Career-wise, Sharon worked as a paralegal for many years until returning to college to obtain an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Troy University, and a graduate degree from the University of West Alabama. The majority of her teaching career was in Dothan City Schools, with the last three at Mountain Park and Roswell North Elementary. In 2024, her sister Stacy (who also owns Buff City Soap) invited Sharon into a new adventure to open Knuckies Hoagies in Roswell Corners. She considers herself fortunate to have the ability to work with the public inside the store, network and meet new people within the community, and participate in a variety of volunteer opportunities. Serving others has always been an important part of her life, such as a PTA officer and Athletic Club Booster, for her Dothan Church family as a Contemporary Worship Service Coordinator, and Mentor / Tutor to underprivileged youth, and in Roswell with overseas mission trips. She's excited to be a Greater North Fulton County Chamber Diplomat, as well as a Connector with Roswell, Inc. Roswell Rotary was appealing to Sharon because it provides a community of people who see the value in giving back to others. She is looking forward to making new lifelong friends.

?? Are you looking for something to do tonight? ?? Our very own Roswell Rotary After Hours Club has an amazing speaker lined up, William "Sam" Anderson. Sam is a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves and has an extensive background in national security, gained through his service in the active-duty Army and civilian intelligence roles. Currently, Sam serves as the Bravo Company Commander for the 345th Military Intelligence Battalion, based at Gillem Enclave, Georgia, where he leads 100 intelligence soldiers, many of whom are currently deployed to the Middle East in support of live combat operations. Sam graduated from the University of North Georgia, where he majored in Criminal Justice and was a leader in the Corps of Cadets. He began his career as a Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) operations officer in the Georgia Army National Guard and, upon graduation, was commissioned into the U.S. Army as an Air Defense Artillery officer. In this role, he deployed to Israel and Kuwait. After leaving active duty, Sam earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of West Georgia and co-authored an Atlas of Georgia. This achievement marked a career shift into Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), a field that leverages imagery, technology, and geospatial data to integrate mapping, charting, imagery analysis, and intelligence for understanding and visualizing human activities on Earth. Sam has served various government agencies as a Senior Cartographic Analyst, including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the U.S. Department of State. In these roles, he authored and edited classified maps focusing on maritime, combat operations, and defensive interests for the Department of Defense. During his time at NGA, he was selected to join a competitive team conducting classified geospatial reconnaissance for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, among other sensitive assignments. Sam is married to Jessica, an environmental scientist, and is scheduled to deploy to the Middle East next year under an Army Special Operations Command mission. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30 PM, located at the Artillery Room at Gate City.
