Turning assets into tokens. The rise of RWA tokenisation. "RWA tokenisation" refers to the process of converting real-world assets (RWAs) into digital tokens on a blockchain. These tokens represent ownership or a claim to the underlying assets, which can range from real estate and art to commodities and intellectual property. The process of tokenisation involves dividing the asset into smaller, tradable units, making it easier and more cost-efficient to buy, sell, and trade digitally. This is facilitated by the blockchain , which ensures transparency, security, and an immutable audit trail of records. Here are three real-world examples of Real world assets being tokenised Real Estate: Example: A commercial building or residential property is tokenised on a blockchain platform. How it works: The total value of the property is divided into multiple tokens, each representing a fractional ownership stake in the property. Investors can buy these tokens, effectively owning a part of the property. This lowers the barrier to entry for investors, as they can invest smaller amounts of money compared to buying an entire property. Benefits: Increased liquidity, lower transaction costs, and the ability to trade ownership stakes 24/7 on digital exchanges. Art Tokenisation: Example: A valuable painting or sculpture. How it works: Similar to real estate, the artwork is assessed for its value, and this value is then divided into many digital tokens. These tokens are sold to investors, giving them partial ownership of the art piece. Benefits: Artists and galleries can raise funds more directly and efficiently while enabling investors to purchase shares in valuable artworks, which they might not be able to afford outright. Token holders can potentially earn returns if the value of the art increases. Commodity Tokenisation: Example: Precious metals like gold or silver. How it works: Each token corresponds to a specific quantity of the metal stored securely in a vault. The tokens can be bought and sold on blockchain platforms, representing actual ownership of the metal. Benefits: Tokenisation of commodities like gold simplifies trading and storage, reduces risks associated with physical handling, and makes it easier to divide ownership into smaller, more affordable units. RWA tokenisation shows its potential to democratise access to investment in various asset classes, making it possible for more people to participate in markets previously dominated by large investors or specialised firms. There isn't much our co-Founder Nabil Hadi doesn't know about Blockchain. And for those who are a little unsure of its application an ability to create incredible solutions to large scale problems, here are a few examples from Nabs himself. #Blockchain is much more than just Crypto! ?? Don't get me wrong, blockchain is the backbone for cryptocurrencies; but it's also a transformative tool which can be used for social impact on a global scale. I thought I would share a few diverse ways blockchain is propelling societal advancement: ? Transparency in Donations: With blockchain, every transaction is traceable. This means donors can see exactly how their contributions are used, increasing trust in charities. For instance, the The World Food Bank Programme's Building Blocks project is revolutionizing aid with blockchain, ensuring that resources are effectively reaching those in need. ? Identity Verification: Blockchain offers a reliable solution for confirming identities, an essential function in assisting individuals affected by displacement or catastrophe. A notable example is the work by ID2020, a collaborative project that aims to give digital identities to the one billion undocumented people worldwide. ? Supply Chain Traceability: By applying blockchain to supply chains, businesses can guarantee ethical sourcing and combat labor exploitation. One remarkable instance is the collaboration between IBM and Ford Motor Company to monitor cobalt supplies from mine to market, ensuring responsible procurement. ? Voting Mechanisms: Blockchain can secure and streamline the voting process, making elections more accessible and transparent. Efforts like the initiative by the city of Zug in Switzerland, which conducted a blockchain-powered trial for municipal voting, showcase the feasibility of more secure digital democracy. ? Renewable Energy Distribution: Platforms like LO3 ENERGY INC Brooklyn Microgrid empower homeowners to trade renewable energy securely, fostering sustainable energy networks aided by blockchain's transparent ledgers. This evolution towards a digital society signals blockchain's role as a pivotal instrument in solving complex social issues. The reason they are not being used in scale is because governments are too scared to adopt and engage with new technologies, WHY? because they don't fully understand it. What social issues could this technology solve? Ollie Bell Ollie Holt Tom Downing Dan Strode #dontleadwithtech #solveproblems #blockchain

Describe the Bitcoin Halving as if I was 5! The Bitcoin halving is a pivotal event in the cryptocurrency world, occurring approximately every four years with the latest coming just last week. But what happens during the halving? Here's an analogy for you to understand. Imagine Bitcoin halving as the process of gradually slicing a pie at a family gathering where the pie represents the available Bitcoin rewards for miners. Initially, everyone who wants a piece can get a fairly large slice (the original reward rate). However, every four years, the size of the slices is halved. At the first family gathering, the pie is cut into large slices, but by the next event, each slice is only half as big. This means that although the pie (the total supply of Bitcoin) remains the same size overall, each participant receives a smaller portion at each subsequent gathering. Just as your anticipation and perceived value of your slice increase as it gets smaller (since you're getting less of something you enjoy), the same principle applies to Bitcoin. As the reward for mining new blocks decreases, the existing Bitcoins potentially become more valuable due to their reduced flow into the market. This scarcity can drive up the price, just as a smaller, tastier slice of pie might seem more desirable the less there is to go around. Who is excited by the potential implications of the Bitcoin halving? Ollie Bell Nabil Hadi Ollie Holt Tom Downing Dan Strode #bitcoin #cryptocurrency #emergingtechnology

Fractionalisation and Tokenisation of Real World Assets (RWA's) Fractionalisation: Imagine owning a piece of a Picasso painting or a slice of prime real estate in downtown Manhattan. Fractionalisation makes this possible. It's the process of dividing an expensive asset into smaller, more affordable shares, democratising access to investments that were once the exclusive domain of the wealthy. Tokenisation of Real-World Assets (RWA): Tokenisation takes the concept of fractionalisation a step further. By leveraging blockchain, tangible assets like buildings, artwork, or even shares in renewable energy projects can be digitised into tokens. These tokens represent a stake in the physical asset, allowing for seamless, secure transactions and ownership records on a digital ledger. You will be exposed to the tokenisation of Real World Assets more over the coming months and years, with large institutions investing in projects looking to do just that. Here is Metaverse and Blockchain expert Nova Lorraine touching on this with Nabil Hadi Ollie Bell Ollie Holt Dan Strode Tom Downing #blockchain #RWA #emergingtechnology

Learning is for life, not just for a certificate. It's fair to say that we are continually learning throughout our lives. However, when it comes to learning, embedding and evolving hard skills needed for todays jobs market, how are individuals incentivised and rewarded beyond the transactional element of 'buy course, get certificate'. If we want people to become genuine lifelong learners, thus improving standards and quality across industries, how can we use emerging technology to achieve this?
