After 31 years of dedicated leadership, Larry Richardson is retiring from the YMCA of the Roses in July. His impact on our Y community is immeasurable—from expanding programs to strengthening connections across York and Lancaster counties. "It has been both a blessing and a privilege. International Women’s Day may have passed, but we’re still celebrating! Throughout Women’s History Month, we’ll continue to highlight the incredible women who make our YMCA association stronger every day, as well as the trailblazing women in YMCA history who paved the way. Youth development in action! Students from the Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA and City Center YMCA came together for an unforgettable trip to Washington, D.C., where they explored the National Museum of African American History and Culture. It was a great way to wrap up Black History Month while gaining a deeper understanding of history and its impact. We're so proud to see our Y Achievers and Temple Guard students exploring history and learning together. Experiences like this help shape future leaders! Over the weekend, our community suffered a heartbreaking loss with the tragic events at UPMC Memorial Hospital. We mourn the passing of Officer Andrew Duarte, who gave his life in service to others. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and the West York Borough Police Department. We also hold in our hearts those who were injured and everyone impacted by this devastating incident. To the first responders, hospital staff, and law enforcement officers who acted with courage—thank you. Your dedication and bravery in the face of danger remind us of the strength within our community. In difficult times, we come together. We stand with those who are grieving, and we are grateful for those who protect and serve. York is strong because of the people who call it home.
