Three years ago, one of our staff members, Jason, took his first steps toward rebuilding his life after facing immense challenges. He walked through our doors seeking hope and strength, and through the Y’s Membership For All program, he found not just a place to grow—but an opportunity to give back. He recalled the times he spent at the YMCA in his youth and how it symbolized for him a place of compassion. "I walked through the door, hoping they might grant me a membership to regain my strength and confidence." That day he left with more than a membership- deeply moved by compassion for his story, he was offered an interview on the spot for an entry-level position. His dedication and resilience have helped him grow into a leadership position, and he now coaches and inspires others daily. This ExtraGive, we celebrate the power of community, second chances, and the incredible impact of compassion. Stories like this remind us why your support matters. We’re excited to be featured in Fig Industries’s Winter Issue, showcasing our welcoming and supportive YMCA community as we celebrate 170 years of service and ExtraGive this week! It’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on how our community has grown and evolved over the past 170 years. The article also highlights the beautiful stained glass piece at our City Center YMCA, originally donated by JP McCaskey to the first YMCA location. Our journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible members, community partners, and friends. To honor this milestone, we’ve dug into the archives at City Center Y and uncovered some amazing old photos that capture the heart of our history. Follow along over the next two weeks as we share these snapshots from our past, leading up to the big day!

A big thank you to our friends at Northwest Bank for their generous donation to the Y through the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)! Their support helps us meet the critical needs of our community, especially in areas like homelessness, workforce development, and food insecurity. We’re especially grateful to have had one of our board members, Chris Flores, present us with the check, symbolizing our shared commitment to building a stronger, more resilient community. Together, we're making a difference!
