As our inaugural semester reaches completion, hear what some of our faculty, staff, and supporters have to say about our shared mission: Professor Joseph Pearce introduces Rosary College as South Carolina's first Catholic college, launched this fall with pioneering students and a foundation for future growth. Supporter Rev. Fr. Dwight Longenecker shares the college’s unique “small is beautiful” approach, with plans to teach in rented classrooms and currently online to keep it affordable. President Dr. Michael Shick discusses the vision for a rigorous, authentically Catholic program that forms students in how to think, inspired by dual-enrollment models. Professor and Director of Policy and Academic Compliance, Dr. Elizabeth Larrivee finds teaching here deeply rewarding, especially as Rosary College received provisional Newman Guide recognition for its commitment to faithful Catholic education. Program Director Michelle Marie S. invites prospective students, supporters, and volunteers to attend an information session to learn more about Rosary College. Prospective students, parents of prospective students, supporters, and volunteers, we welcome you to join the Rosary College community! Joseph Pearce, in his discussion with Eric Sammons on Crisis Point by Crisis Magazine, emphasizes how a Catholic liberal arts education in the humanities nurtures a love for God and neighbor, aligning life’s ultimate quest with the truth of our humanity. "Life is the quest for heaven, and we can’t get to heaven unless we’re loving the Lord our God and loving our neighbor..." The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe ?? Archangel Gospel Reflection: How can we, as followers of Christ the King, bear witness to His truth with courage and faith in a world that often rejects it? The Kingship of Jesus transcends all boundaries, calling every race and tongue to unite under His reign of love, truth, and justice. Unlike worldly rulers, His authority is rooted in humility and self-sacrifice, offering a model of leadership that serves rather than dominates. By recognizing Christ as our King, we are invited to make Him the center of our lives, allowing His truth to guide our actions and transform our hearts into instruments of His peace. ???? At Rosary College, we strive to reflect the universal kingship of Christ by fostering a community where faith, service, and unity celebrate the dignity of every individual as part of God’s family. St. Pope Clement I, Pope & Martyr Patron saint of mariners, sailors, stonecutters and metalworkers November 23 St. Pope Clement I, the fourth pope and one of the Apostolic Fathers, lived during the late 1st century and is renowned for his steadfast leadership in a time of persecution. He is credited with writing the *Letter to the Corinthians*, one of the earliest Christian texts outside the New Testament, where he urged unity and charity within the Church. His quote, *“Charity bears all things, is long suffering in all things. There is nothing mean to charity, nothing arrogant. Charity knows no schism, does not rebel, and does all things in concord. In charity, all the elect of God have been made perfect,”* reflects his deep commitment to selfless love and harmony as the foundation of Christian life. He is the patron saint of mariners and sailors ????, linked to the legend of his martyrdom by being cast into the sea with an anchor, as well as stonecutters and metalworkers ???, due to his role as a spiritual "builder" of the early Church and his enduring influence in shaping the Christian community. At Rosary College, we are inspired by St. Clement’s example by fostering a community of unity, charity, and steadfast dedication to God, ensuring every student grows in love and service to others. St. Cecilia, Virgin & Martyr Patron saint of musicians, composers, instrument makers, and poets November 22 St. Cecilia, a noble Roman virgin and martyr of the 3rd century, is remembered for her unwavering devotion to God, even in the face of martyrdom, and for converting many to Christianity, including her husband and brother-in-law. She is closely associated with music, as tradition holds that during her wedding, while instruments played, she sang to God in her heart, symbolizing her deep spiritual connection and harmony with divine grace. As the patron saint of musicians, composers, instrument makers, and poets, she embodies the beauty of using creativity to glorify God. Her words, "Let my heart and my body be undefiled, O Lord, that I may not be confounded,” remind us that true artistry begins with a pure heart, making all creative endeavors acts of worship. ?????? Rosary College can draw inspiration from St. Cecilia by fostering an environment where all pursuits—academic, artistic, and spiritual—are oriented toward glorifying God, creating a culture of faith-centered excellence.
