Roots and Wings is thankful for the thousands of children we have helped since 2017 learn the basics of literacy with their teachers after school … helping to put these smiles on their faces! They start out in the bottom 25% of their class, but they are determined to succeed … and we are there to help them every step of the way, building their confidence and self-worth along the way! They become the engine that can … and will … and does! CS Lewis said it best: “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” We’re helping to change lives … through literacy and our Project UpLift Program!

We love sharing pictures of the Project UpLift students and their teachers, working after school to improve their literacy skills. Roots and Wings is proud to support this effort in 15 Title One public elementary schools in Palm Beach County. This school year, with the help of grants and donations from the community, this program is supporting over 1,100 students with this free program. Our students started the year reading one or two grades below grade level. Our certified teachers come from the students’ school who know them best. We pay them as well as a Literacy Coordinator at each school, who develops lesson plans specific to their students’ needs! Thank you to all who support this effort. Our expansion can only continue with more support and we invite all to come see what we do and why this simple formula for success is so successful! The look of happy children in the Roots and Wings Project UpLift after-school Reading program! These children are reading one or two grades below grade level, but are determined to catch up. We support them with our FREE program, hiring the certified teachers in their school to teach them in small groups of 10 or less after school. We also hire a Literacy Coordinator at their school who creates the lesson plans to help these students thrive! We honor the students’ successes and help build their confidence! We help change the lives of these students. We offer the hand UP that they need, but could not financially afford.

Roots and Wings loves honoring teachers who have been chosen by their peers. We loved surprising these individuals with our Above and Beyond awards at Pine Grove Elementary School.

Teach the children … “Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.”

Roots and Wings loves their Project UpLift teachers! They help their students rise to new literacy heights! This amazing group of certified teachers at Hammock Pointe Elementary in Boca Raton go above and beyond for their students after school. Literacy Coordinator Lisa Kaputa creates specific lesson plans to help these students. They encourage! Thanks for all these teachers do to help make the students understand that their desire and determination pays handsome dividends! These students begin the year in the bottom 25% of their class. They are reading one or two grades below grade level! Our unique small group after-school literacy program helps build confidence in addition to literacy skills. We are the largest FREE after school literacy program in Palm Beach County, helping over 1,100 students in 15 Title One public elementary scholls!
