On July 21, 2016 Root’s original underwriting code was created; in the summer of 2022, the Underwriting Team designed a new Underwriting System for more flexible, configurable, and responsive functionality. And over the last two years, that team has steadily and doggedly worked to migrate, replace, or deprecate that legacy codebase piece by piece, capability by capability. Earlier this week, joined by more than 100 Root team members (including two talented musical guests), we officially laid our Legacy Underwriting System to rest.
