Before electric cars were everywhere - before they were even viable - a group of students from Northampton County decided to make one. With no big budget, no state-of-the-art facilities, and no reason to believe they could compete with powerhouse technical teams, they showed up to the EV Grand Prix with something else: the certainty that they could. Thirty years later, we’re telling their story. A documentary series and mobile exhibit will bring Team Shocker’s journey to the next generation—the ones who will build the future of sustainable innovation. ?? RootEd was founded on the belief that the best way to prepare students and communities for tomorrow, is to engage them in solving the challenges of today, right in their backyard. RootEd is a community of educators, students, coaches, and partners working together to solve local and regional challenges. We know that bold, authentic learning experiences have the power to transform and strengthen students, teachers, schools, and communities. We also know that making these experiences attainable and sustainable for all North Carolina students and communities, requires a strong network of support. That’s RootEd.

It’s wonderful to see how these beautiful butterflies support our local ecosystems—nature's pollinators at work, helping plants thrive in North Carolina!
This is the season of the Eastern swallowtail butterfly (Papilio glaucus). You might see them flittering about your garden plants this time of year and on through the summer! ?? Swallowtails are a common type of butterfly, present wherever deciduous forest is close by! Because of their wide habitat range, they are considered a generalist species. That's good news for us and for our NC plant species that rely on their pollination prowess! ??

Have you heard the story of Shocker - North Carolina's Original Electric Race Car? In March of 1995, students, teachers, and partners from northeastern NC built and raced their electric race car, Shocker, in the EV Grand Prix in Phoenix, AZ. They shocked everyone by winning. In honor of the 30th anniversary of their first national and international victories, we are bringing their story (and at least one of their cars) back to life through a documentary series and mobile exhibit. Check out the teaser, and visit our website, to learn more. https://lnkd.in/exUvVe2e Constructive Learning Design
