Today marks 2 years since Rooted Hearts Ministries Inc became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Yesterday, we had the chance to celebrate with our community partner and church family, Eastgate Charlotte, in a sweet and simple celebration after service. It is important that we not only celebrate, but continue to bring awareness to our community every chance we get. We are grateful for partners, like Eastgate, we get to do this work with and continue to support autistic children and their families through their journey. At Rooted Hearts Ministries Inc, we believe in the power of partnership. This week, Executive Director, Jomaira L Ortiz, LMSW, CAS, led a workshop, “Autism Uncovered: Truths and Misconceptions,” at Charlotte Bilingual Preschool. We welcomed families from across the city, including a grandmother in Perú! Thank you, Charlotte Bilingual, for fostering this vital dialogue!

2??YEARS OLD!!!?? Over the last 2 years since we started Rooted Hearts Ministries Inc, we have seen God do immeasurably more than all we could have asked for or imagined. ? What began as 10 sensory boxes packed into my car waiting for God to move in Charlotte has led to over 1,700 sensory toolboxes shipped across the United States AND Canada. ? What began as making sensory toolboxes in our dining room has led to MULTIPLE serve days with community partners like Eastgate Charlotte, Wells Fargo, UnitedHealth Group / Optum, Elevation Church and many others. ? What began as a box of toys and gadgets for autistic children has become a breath of hope and seeds of faith being planted for special needs families throughout the world. We are celebrating a little bit and rejoicing in what is to come for Rooted Hearts and our family. Today we teamed up with our community partners at Eastgate Charlotte to pack, pray over, and ship 7??4?? autism sensory toolboxes! Toolboxes are individually curated and sent across the U.S. to children newly diagnosed and stuck on lengthy therapy waitlists. Thanks to our volunteers and partners, 74 families will have resources to bridge the gap between diagnosis and therapy!! This work is great. But what makes it even better is collaborating with community partners who have a shared heart and vision. We had a time at the Neurodiversity Pride Day event in Charlotte, NC! We met so many great families, shared stories of the autism journey, and learned about all of the great resources available in Charlotte for families. We thrive when best through collaboration. On Sunday, May 19th, Rooted Hearts Ministries Inc hosted our first community event, inviting autistic children, their siblings, parents, and friends to a play date in a sensory-inclusive environment. When we first presented the idea to our friends at Romp n' Roll Northeast Charlotte, they immediately took to the idea and ran with it. Together, we leveraged our lessons learned and best practices and produced an environment of joy, fun, and most importantly, acceptance. We are grateful for our community partners at Romp n' Roll and look forward to more magic we can create in the near future. #communitypartners #autismacceptance #inclusive
