Happy Maryland Day from our team at Root3 Labs! ?? For a lot of us, Maryland isn't just where work - it's part of our DNA! Whether we're crafting tech solutions right here in our Owings Mills workshop, representing MD overseas (with the amazing support of Maryland Department of Commerce!), sailing the beautiful bay, or proudly sporting that iconic flag wherever we go...we couldn't imagine a better home for our business. What makes you proud to be part of Maryland? ?? #MarylandDay #MedTech #Maryland

We hope you're enjoying your Friday afternoon as much as we are in sunny Baltimore today! ?? Chad Schneider, P.E. closed out his week with the MIDC's Innovation Dinner last night, getting to hear from five groundbreaking startups under Galil Ofek Innovation. W Ventures really put on a great party, creating an awesome space for these innovative companies! We even got to snap a pic with Amy Schiffman, MD, MHS, HMD and Yotam Harnik from Tracells Ltd. (After plenty of talking shop, of course ??) All of the startups featured are doing amazing work, and it's always invigorating to see the outstanding new ideas that may shape the future of #MedTech for years to come. Thanks so much for having us!

??Turn Ideas into Reality Faster with Functional Prototyping! When we partnered with Relavo on their PeritoneX? device, we immediately got to work with our Functional Prototyping approach. We focused our early work only to proving out functionality, using proof-of-concept prototypes and benchtop models with off-the-shelf components. So, why does a focus on functional prototyping dramatically accelerate development? ?? Front-Loads Critical Learning: Discover what's working (and what isn't) in weeks, not months ?? Reduces Expensive Redesigns: Test, iterate, and refine before committing to costly engineering ?? De-Risks the Development Path: Surface technical challenges while they're easiest to solve ?? Maximize ROI at Every Stage: Every dollar spent impactfully builds essential knowledge By focusing on function first, we helped Relavo move confidently from their revolutionary concept to impactful product, saving precious time and resources along the way. The journey from R&D to Production isn't a single leap. It's a deliberate evolution through three critical phases: ?? Phase 1: Functionality Making sure it WORKS is the first priority. Early prototypes focus on core performance above all else. ?? Phase 2: Reliability Now we need to make sure it works CONSISTENTLY. At this stage we're adding in circuits, considering real-world conditions, and planning for possible errors. ?? Phase 3: Manufacturability How do we transition to building at scale? This phase focuses on things like uniform wall thickness, proper drafts, tolerance analysis, and optimizing for the chosen manufacturing method. What phase is your current project in? Have you encountered challenges transitioning from one phase to the other? #ProductDevelopment #Engineering #Prototyping #Manufacturing #DFM #EngineeringSolutions

We really do mean it when we say our team works together closely! Our tight-knit, multi-disciplinary engineering team breaks down the usual silos, allowing our team to work side-by-side. (Sometimes literally! Check out Mechanical and Fabrication working shoulder to shoulder to put together our "Smart" Badge.) Working together like this allows us to blend different engineering disciplines seamlessly, letting us tackle complex problems from every angle. It's not just about the teamwork - it's about creating an environment where big breakthroughs can thrive! What do you think? Would integrating the engineering teams speed up your development process? #ProductDevelopment #EngineeringSolutions #MedTech #Prototyping #DeviceDesign

Everything is important in your Product Development timeline, but you can't give it all your full attention all the time. The best way to focus your attention is to focus relentlessly on the Critical Path—those sequential tasks that directly impact your timeline. Early R&D is the perfect time to identify manufacturing issues that might become schedule-killers later: ?? Component obsolescence risks ?? Design elements incompatible with your target manufacturing method ?? Assembly and serviceability challenges By tackling these early, we keep projects on track and prevent the 11th-hour scramble. What's your go-to tool to stay on top of Critical Path management? Drop your recommendations below! #ProductDevelopment #Engineering #DFM #RND #Manufacturing
