This round is co-led by Rick Heitzmann from FirstMark and Eurie Kim from Forerunner, with continued support from early investors, including Soraya Darabi from TMV and Jess Lee from Sequoia Capital More than any name or number, I’m so proud of this milestone because we’re building with a team of truly mission-driven people My personal experience as a caregiver to my father during his battle with ALS inspired me to build Roon. Navigating the complexities of the healthcare system opened my eyes: At some point, we’ll all face the challenge of caring for ourselves or a loved one through difficult health issues. And I knew there had to be a better way than turning to "Doctor Google."My co-founders Rohan Ramakrishna, MD, and Arun Ranganathan shared this vision as doctors and caregivers. Many of our investors have a meaningful personal connection to our mission. And most inspiringly, thousands of leading physicians in the country have joined us, eager to make their expertise more accessible and fix how the Internet often falls short for health information. Their enthusiasm to scale their impact beyond their clinics at places like Weill Cornell, UCSF, Harvard, Stanford or Columbia has been deeply encouraging. Roon gives people around the world a chance to hear directly from world class doctors who would otherwise be hard to get an appointment with. Today they’re launching in the fertility space, adding tons of expertise from health experts like Brian A. Levine, MD, MS, FACOG of top fertility clinic CCRM. And it’s all done in easy-to-understand, bite-size, Q&A style videos, like TikTok from doctors. Kudos to Roon founders Vikram Bhaskaran, Arun Ranganathan, and Rohan Ramakrishna, MD.

When Reid Hoffman and his team invited us to the “Masters of Scale” podcast, we were thrilled and honored. Often referred to as the 'Philosopher-Entrepreneur,' he provides a refreshing contrast to the focus on technology for its own sake. Reid has been interested in the possibility that one day everyone could have a useful and empathetic medical assistant in their pockets. In this episode Arun Ranganathan and I workshop (we show up around minute 4) some of the key questions we're tackling such as trust, access, scaling medical time & expertise and placing the right guardrails around AI in medicine. The discussion highlighted a tension between AI's emerging role in healthcare and traditional trust-building methods. Reid sees AI as a promising tool for physicians, potentially serving as real-time scientific peer review or aiding in patient triage. However, he emphasizes that accelerating trust in AI must be anchored in time-honored, often offline elements that people continue to hold in high regard (doctor credentials, real academic medical training and affiliation with trusted institutions). This is a sentiment also shared by my co-founder Rohan Ramakrishna, MD At Pinterest, we built a graph of people's offline interests by letting real people create collections of things they loved and we used computer vision technology and AI to scale human curation. At Roon we are also starting with a similar premise but with an eye on medical curation? – real trusted doctors answering questions at the core and AI to scale doctor access and time. While building a new network from the ground up is challenging, we look to Pinterest and LinkedIn (which Reid built) as north stars. They demonstrated the gaps in traditional social media and the potential for new, purpose-built platforms. For healthcare, we need a clean slate to prioritize curation and trust from the outset.
