For the first time, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption will begin implementing Wendy’s Wonderful Kids in Puerto Rico. Through this signature program, the Foundation supports the work of 549 adoption recruiters across the United States and Canada who serve children most at risk of aging out of foster care. This includes children over the age of 9, teenagers, children with special needs and siblings. “Expanding the Foundation’s footprint in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is a significant step toward advancing our mission to dramatically increase the number of adoptions of children waiting in North America’s foster care systems,” said?Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. “We look forward to working side-by-side with our partners to advocate for the voice of every child served by Wendy’s Wonderful Kids in Puerto Rico. We are continuing to celebrate women in roofing, and this week, we are featuring Elaine Johnson from Roof Maxx of Tampa, FL! ?? With a background in environmental sciences, Elaine spent years working as a biologist and for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, making her a natural fit for Roof Maxx. The eco-friendly, science-backed solution to extending the life of roofs immediately caught her interest, especially given Florida’s harsh sun and rising cost of living. But beyond the science and sustainability, the most rewarding part of this journey has been the people. Many of Elaine’s customers simply can't afford a full roof replacement, and being able to offer them a cost-effective solution has been deeply fulfilling. “Our customers are so grateful we can help them keep their roofs going longer. Hearing their stories has been one of the best parts of this business.” Running a business is no small feat, but Elaine finds balance by taking time to reset in nature—whether it’s the beach or a quiet hike. That balance is key, especially when working with family. She hopes to see growing respect across the industry, regardless of gender or specialization. For inspiration, she looks to her husband, Justin, who constantly pushes himself to grow, and to the Roof Maxx dealer network—a community she calls “a family” full of supportive and knowledgeable individuals.
