I grew a $30M+ home services business and recently helped lead a company from $500K to $1.3M in just 12 months. I’ve had my share of failures, but those lessons fuel my success today. Failure sucks. I walked into the Test Center to take the NASCLA Contractors exam, and after 5 hours and 25 minutes, I had about 25 questions left unanswered. The question in my head—am I picking all B’s or C’s? As I went through the last few questions, I was already thinking about my strategy for next time. But then, as I hit the final answer and took the quick survey, the blue line popped up that said "PASS." Failure is part of the process, but with studying, practice tests, and maybe a little luck, I’m happy to say I passed! Failure is a part of the journey, but with some studying, practice tests, and a little bit of luck, I’m happy to say I passed. Oh, and by the way—if you pass, you don’t get your score. You only get it if you fail. Now onto the NC and SC Law tests. I’m almost there.

LEADERSHIP, CULTURE & INTEGRITY IN ACTION → 6 AM in January at Virginia Beach... and it’s freezing! During Groundworks 2025 Kickoff, out of 2,000 employees, 250 showed up for a beach workout led by a Navy Seal. Here's what stood out to me about creating an intentional culture: → The 15-person team showed up 45 minutes early to do the same grueling workout, setting the tone for the group. You’d never know they were there unless you showed up early. → Our CEO joined in and crushed the workout with everyone else—yet only 10 people knew he was there. → The workout honored the production side of the company—the ones who show up every day, working in freezing cold, pouring rain, or sweltering heat. As a proud Groundworks stockholder, I’m grateful to be part of a company that demonstrates what true teamwork and culture are all about.
