Every year, we have been able to let families experience the magic of Christmas while being able to stay focused on their child's health, thanks to our friends and supporters like you. ?We’ve had a blast with Leilani Shiu, aka Teeka the Jawa, the last two days! ? Leilani brought a crew with her to bring light and joy to the kids at our House and Family Rooms. Leilani is a Star Wars actress and has been on Obi Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett. Leilani also has a passion for helping sick kids and their families. Leilani is a little person and she remembers how difficult it was for her parents to stay close when she was undergoing surgeries as a kid. Now as an adult, she is using her fame and role on Star Wars to help bring comfort and joy to families who are dealing with childhood illness and injuries. Leilani is also promoting a toy drive for RMHC as she travels around Texas the next couple of weeks. Thanks Leilani and her crew for brining smiles to our kids faces this holiday season! ??

Congratulations to Emmanuel Ramirez, Valerie Tucker and Melissa Torres on their RMHC anniversaries this month! ?? Emmanuel has been at RMHC for 9 years and will have been in the position of President and CEO 4 years next month. Valerie, our Finance Assistant, has been at RMHC for 2 years. And, Melissa, our Family Room Coordinator in Odessa, has been at RMHC for 4 years. Thank you to Emmanuel, Valerie, and Melissa for their ongoing dedication to #KeepingFamiliesClose! ??????

Last week, we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary of our newest program, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Midland Memorial. Over the past two years, the Family Room at MMH has served over 800 families. The Family Room has also been able to essentially double the hours it is open and serves families 6 days a week thanks to volunteers from the Midland community. We have so many thank yous to give! Thank you to our partner hospital, Midland Memorial, and their staff, for their support and believing in our mission to keep families close when they have a hospitalized child. Thank you to the Carillo Family, Permian Basin McDonald’s owners/operators, who have supported our presence in Midland by dedicating the Family Room in honor of Jesse and Anne Carillo and installing the beautiful wall mural to lead people to the Room. Thank you to the Midland Chamber of Commerce for being with us for a ribbon cutting. And, last but not least, thank you to ChampionX for sponsoring the celebration.

We had a great time today at our Thanks For Giving Luncheon honoring the amazing people who are part of our mission! We're so grateful for all of our volunteers, donors, and advocates who join us in supporting families who have a child receiving medical care. If you didn't see it on our previous post, we've reached over 10,000 hours of volunteer service this year! The number is such an amazing testament to our community and their hearts for #KeepingFamiliesClose! ? Happy Veterans Day! Today, we honor the brave heroes who served our nation with courage and sacrifice. ????

Thanks to our friends and supporters like you in October we were able to: ?? Serve 33 families in our Ronald McDonald House. ???????? Serve 154 people (moms, dads, kids, grandparents, etc.) in our Ronald McDonald House. ??? Keep families together when they have an ill or injured child for an average of 29 nights per family. ??
