Bishop McClory celebrated a Mass in honor of Black Catholic History month at the Cathedral this past weekend. Followed by a presentation by Deacon Martin Brown on the contributions of Black Catholics and the African diaspora, it was an opportunity for the community to celebrate the often under-appreciated contributions of Black Catholics to the Church as a whole and a reminder of our own call to holiness.

It's Black Catholic History Month! This is an opportunity to learn about Black saints, to praise God for their holiness and example, and to pray that God will raise up many saints for our current age. Bishop McClory blessed the new ground that was broken in Valparaiso for a new medical office for Franciscan Health. Let us pray for the many people who will come to this place looking for healing, as well as those who care for them. The campus is expected to open in 2026 and will feature Franciscan ExpressCare, outpatient imaging including X-ray, CAT scan, MRI, ultrasound and stress echocardiogram testing, as well as clinics for orthopedics, podiatry, pain management, urology and vascular surgery.
