I was shocked and terribly saddened to hear of the sudden death of interior designer Karen Lynn Poulos a while back, several weeks after she passed on November 22. She had recently celebrated her 50th birthday. Many of you here will know of Karen. She took part in many yachting events and was part of numerous organizations, such as the International Superyacht Society where she was a judge last year. She ran her own business, Karen Lynn Interior Yacht Design, which she started when she was just 27 and finishing school, and handled a steady flow of complex interior refits (mostly). She was a Florida gal, growing up in Miami Shores and later attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She was a constant presence in shipyards around our area of Fort Lauderdale, tackling numerous projects that often required updating older boats to make them fresh and suitable for today's owners and charter guests. She was also a doting single mom to her 15-year-old daughter, Angelina. Karen's colleague and friend Shannon McCoy has organized a fundraiser for Karen's daughter and her future financial needs.
