The New Jersey Department of Health has approved Hudson Regional Hospital’s Certificate of Need application, allowing it to take full ownership and operation of Bayonne Medical Center. Hudson Regional has owned the hospital property since July 2020 and was recently appointed interim operator during CarePoint Health’s bankruptcy proceedings. The approval resolves long-standing conflicts between the hospital’s ownership and its operations:

Cultural icon Ice-T and entrepreneur Charis Burrett have opened The Medicine Woman, a cannabis dispensary at 660 Tonnelle Ave., marking the brand’s first East Coast expansion. Strategically located along Route 1 & 9, the 10,000-square-foot facility includes 3,000- square feet of retail space, executive offices, and plans for on-site cannabis consumption and manufacturing. The dispensary will employ 15 local hires and partner with Hudson County Community College to provide industry training and job placement.

Alterra IOS, a leading investor in industrial outdoor storage (IOS), has acquired two properties in Southern New Jersey, expanding its footprint in the state to 15 locations. The acquisitions include a combined seven usable acres at 223 Paulsboro Road in Swedesboro and 189 Dominic Lane in Paulsboro. Both properties offer prime access to Philadelphia and the greater Mid-Atlantic region, making them ideal for national tenants seeking East Coast expansion. The sites are within 20 miles of Philadelphia International Airport and 30 miles from the Port of Philadelphia, with direct connections to major interstate highways.

Businesses and commuters relying on E-ZPass for toll payments will soon experience a more streamlined and user-friendly platform, as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Bridges and Tunnels, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the New York State Thruway Authority roll out major upgrades to the E-ZPass website and Tolls NY mobile app. The overhaul, which includes a new consolidated website at e-zpassny.com, will provide enhanced self-service options and expanded payment methods. However, the transition requires a temporary system downtime. From 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 14, customers will not be able to access account information, make payments, or contact customer service through existing phone lines.

Hudson County Community College?(HCCC) is launching a new film and television production training program in partnership with the New Jersey Film Academy, aiming to equip students with industry credentials and workforce opportunities in the state’s growing entertainment sector. The initiative is part of a statewide effort supported by the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC) and the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA)’s New Jersey Pathways to Career Opportunities.
