Roger B. Kennedy Construction’s 11th Annual school supply drive for Tools for Seminole Schools (T4SS) will kick off on Monday, July 22, 2024, and will run thru Friday, August 9, 2024. Almost 50% of students in Seminole County – over 33,000! – participate in the free and reduced meals program. Of this number, more than 3,000 are identified as homeless. Families are struggling to provide the basics, so many times their household budgets don’t cover backpacks and school supplies. Dedicated teachers try to help by spending on average $750.00 - $1,000.00 of their own money on supplies for their students and classrooms. If you'd like to help out, we're accepting donations at our Altamonte Springs office Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 3:00pm until Friday, August 9.

YOU DID IT! Heat Preemption passed the Florida Legislature on Friday, the last day of session. Thanks to efforts of the AGC and industry members, no Florida Contractors will have to face a County or City Safety & Health Department enforcing poorly devised Heat Standards, designed by radical labor organizations. It is important to acknowledge the people and organizations who got us here. The legislators who sponsored this legislation, Representative Tiffany Esposito, and Senator Jay Trumbull, both of whom faced a storm of biased reporting from our state’s largest newspapers and misinformed activists. We also need to thank House and Senate leadership for getting this bill to the finish line, especially Incoming Speaker Daniel Perez & Senate President Kathleen Passidomo. Several associations contributed to this campaign, in construction they were ABC, CASF, and ECA, in development we had BASF, and in agriculture we had the Dade Farm Bureau, and FNGLA. We also need to thank Andy Palmer and Douglas Bell from lobbying firm METZ HUSBAND & DAUGHTON, PA, who led our lobbying efforts in Tallahassee, Brian May and Tim Gomez of Capitol City Consulting who led lobbying efforts in Miami-Dade, and Suzanne Perez-Bernal & Deidre Krause of the PR firm of Ander Co. The most important part of this effort was YOU! Your support of The South Florida AGC helped us lead this effort on behalf of the construction industry both locally and at the state level along with our partners at the AGC Florida East Coast Chapter. You who made calls, sent emails, contributed to our Industry Education Campaign, and educated others on why the Heat Ordinance was unnecessary and punitive. We are proud to fight on behalf of you, your businesses, and the hundreds of thousands of construction workers in our state. Thank you!
