Glenn Balasky, executive director of RMCC, emphasizes the need for government support to sustain telehealth and suggests a hybrid model combining centralized high-tech care with remote monitoring to address the challenges of providing innovative care in rural settings.

Here is what that patient said about her: "I have been a patient going on six years now. I have witnessed a lot of nurses and caregivers during my time here. One nurse I would like to bring to your attention is Cassandra Player. Cassandra has been my nurse for too many times for me to single out just one day or event. She is always pleasant and extremely kind towards me and has never shown a bad day or attitude. I find her specifically kind towards everyone. I know how difficult it must be considering her role at a cancer center. Her pleasant attitude in the face of patients facing great pain and families dealing with tragedy and grief. I have been diagnosed with terminal cancer but she treats me with compassion and kindness and she doesn’t single me out just because of my diagnosis. The last thing I want is to be treated as if I’m “made of glass” and need to be handled carefully."
