Mark your calendar for the 34th annual Rockville Science Day on Sunday, April 27, noon - 5:00 PM, at Montgomery College, Rockville, MD. It's a fabulous opportunity for science lovers and supporters to dive into the exciting world of STEM and raise awareness of the impact that science has in our community. Admission and parking are free! Want to join us as an exhibitor? We have a record number of exhibitors signed up from the public and private sectors, as well as nonprofit and community groups. Show your support for science! The Rockville Science Center is looking for volunteers (ages 16 & up) to lend a hand at the 34th annual Rockville Science Day on Sunday, April 27. The event takes place at the Rockville Campus of Montgomery College and runs from noon - 5:00 pm. We have shifts on Saturday evening, April 26th (help with setup) and on Sunday starting at 9:30 am. The Rockville Science Center is hosting a fabulous event for girls in grades 6-12. Join us Sunday, February 2nd, 2:00 - 4:30 PM, for the opportunity to explore the exciting world of STEM careers. We have an all-female panel of STEM professionals lined up for this event and they can't wait to engage with the girls, share their personal educational and career journeys, and inspire them to pursue a career in STEM. Calling all early childhood educators with a passion for science! The Rockville Science Center is seeking to expand our programming to include offerings for young children ages 3-6. The goal will be engage preschool and early elementary children in hands-on, interactive learning activities that spark curiosity and foster an early love for science and discovery. Thank you to all the amazing exhibitors who joined us last Saturday afternoon for our monthly Community STEM Day. We were excited to welcome over 300 visitors of all ages to our storefront for hands-on learning and exploration. Want to help inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers? They did it! We are excited to announce that the "Some Assembly Required" drone team from Rockville Science Center's Explorer Post 1010 won FIRST PLACE at the UAS4STEM (Un-crewed Aircraft System) National Finals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Under the guidance of mentors Tom and Beth May, the team designed and built their mid-size quad-copter over the course of the school year before qualifying to travel to Oshkosh for the national finals where they successfully completed all assigned missions in the time allowed and ultimately won the competition. Way to go, team!
