A huge highlight of our two-week Cape Ann Jazz Workshop is the showcase concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center featuring a collaborative performance with students and our esteemed faculty. Thanks to the continued support of Institution for Savings and Gloucester Cultural Council of Mass Cultural Council, students from across the state had the opportunity to hone musical techniques at the workshop, directed by Alexa Tarantino. Rockport Music continues to nurture young musicians with programs like the #CapeAnnJazzWorkshop, allowing them to learn, grow and build confidence each year.

Tuesday’s Writing Our Musical History showcase was a tremendous success! Seeing local students blossom into rising star songwriters over the course of the school year has been nothing short of magical. Special thanks to the spectacular Alexandra Grace, whose mentorship, talent and love for the area made this possible. Thanks as well to Essex County Community Foundation’s Creative County Initiative for granting Rockport Music funds for this exciting new project, and to Applied Materials, whose funding helped us throw a wonderful reception after the showcase. Writing Our Musical History, a collaboration between Rockport Music, 1623 Studios and Rockport, Gloucester, Manchester-Essex and Beverly high schools, was an opportunity for adolescent songwriters to hone their skills by writing songs about local landmarks that are meaningful to them.
