Just you and me on a Friday morning, dreaming about fish. These young Chinook salmon hatched last year at Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery in Washington. For now, they drift through the only world they've known. But come April, they’ll graduate—released into Icicle Creek to begin their journey to the ocean. Leavenworth has raised fish every year since 1940 to support healthy fisheries and the rivers that carry them. Years from now, these fish will find their way back home. Until then, we’ll keep watch.

Rockford Gray offers crisis management counsel, media training and presentation skills coaching. We provide strategic communications guidance for a diverse set of clients in industries varying from healthcare to construction to insurance to entertainment to hospitality to financial services to aerospace, government and more. The partners in Rockford Gray have made careers as journalists. This unique background informs our counsel and training with spokespeople, professional communicators and high-level executives. More than 20 years ago we held our first media skills workshop. That has evolved into small group, large group and one-on-one training that can be delivered over the course of a day or in one-hour chunks. We create scenarios for participants that are recorded and critiqued in real time. We are in the business of helping to prepare for and then manage a crisis. Rockford Gray’s solution to crisis response is four fold: 1. Create or update an actionable Crisis Plan. 2. Train the crisis team on how to execute on that plan through simulation exercises. 3. Provide real-time counsel to clients during crises. 4. Evaluate effectiveness, revise the plan and train again to keep everyone current. For presentation skills training we start by delivering Rockford Gray’s 12 Steps to Better Presentations. And then through videotaping simulated performances by our subject, we are able to identify strengths and weaknesses in the participant’s communication style. From this baseline, we then pinpoint positive communication behaviors that need to be converted into effective communication habits. Rockford Gray is also in the business of providing both strategic direction and media relations counsel either for short-term engagements, or over the length of a campaign. In Summary, our goal in strategic communications consulting is to minimize the client’s time investment and create an efficient communications process that achieves measurable outcomes.
