This year marked the 21st Annual Detroit Design Awards Celebration, held in June and presented by Terrazzo Marble & Supply. The event took place at one of my favorite venues, Elevate by Rock Events at One Campus Martius, which has a spectacular view of the city. Throughout the year, I work closely with builders, architects, designers, and photographers to ensure their best work is submitted for consideration. After vetting over a thousand entries, I collaborate with ten distinguished judges from the design industry, such as Breegan Jane, host of HGTV's Dream Home. From there, I coordinate closely with the Editor of Detroit Design magazine to announce the winners both in the summer issue and at the Detroit Design Awards Celebration. Now in my third year working on the Detroit Design Awards, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge about the entire design industry. I’ve grown to appreciate not just the artistry behind each submission, but also the intricate process that brings this prestigious event to life. This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern with Rock Events. As an Event Venues Intern, I helped coordinate and execute internal Rocket Mortgage Family of Companies’ events, as well as external weddings and other social gatherings. I also had the opportunity to tour clients through our beautiful venues and share my passion for events. My experience was eye opening and educational. My Rock Events internship exceeded all my expectations and was an invaluable experience. I am proud to be part of a team that cares so deeply about the city of Detroit and strives to create connections and foster city-wide growth through the event industry. Detroit is a beautiful city, and it's a privilege to be a part of a company that has such influence on the city. Rocket Companies has a very strong company culture that is evident in every average workday. I have never experienced such comradery and strong core values in a company. Through their ISMs, they support individuals in their skills and passions and help direct these to build an even stronger company. The Rocket Intern Program is incredible, and I urge everyone looking for an internship to apply and experience the culture of the company for themselves. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Julie Glenn for being the driving force of our team and leading in hard work and connections, and Connar McLeod for mentoring me and being a support in my growth. I would also like to thank all our Event Managers and Event Facilities Techs, for your friendship and encouragement in our event season spent together. Additionally, I would like to thank my fellow interns for a memorable summer together. Cheers to the Rock Events team; thankful for my growth and the people that saw my potential and supported that. I had the honor of being an Event Graphic Design Intern with Rock Events for both the summers of 2023 & 2024. These seasons were nothing short of special! Within both of these internships, I was able to learn an immense amount about graphic design itself from professionals, work closely with talented event planners, learn about what goes into providing the full 360 design experience in events and truly SO much more. I was fortunate to be able to contribute my design efforts for incredible events such as the Rocket Mortgage Classic, G.E.A.R. Moment and a Top Gun themed All Servicing Meeting, among others. ??????????? The support I’ve received from my team leader, mentor and design team as a whole, have impacted my development as a creative and I’m forever grateful for the guidance and opportunity. I also want to thank the Rocket Internship Program team for hosting interactive and beneficial events for us interns to network at and to immerse ourselves in all that the Rocket Companies offer! ?????? The culture at Rock Events and Rocket as a whole is INCREDIBLE along with the individual’s! Downtown Detroit is so special and I was blessed to see what the city offers each day. I’ve found a deeper love for Event Graphic Design and I look forward to what the future holds as a creative! ??

Reflecting on the past 10 months, I want to share the incredible journey I’ve had during my internships with Rock Events. Serving on both the Ticketing & Hospitality and Production teams has been such an enriching experience. Throughout my time here, I’ve gained invaluable skills in coordinating and executing remarkable events. I honed my abilities to collaborate with vendors, brainstorm creative concepts, and work closely with clients to bring their visions to life. I had the privilege of contributing to incredible events such as the Detroit Tigers Opening Day, NFL Draft, Detroit Grand Prix, Rocket Mortgage Classic, and Tammy Z Golf Outing, among others. I extend a heartfelt thank you to Chelsea Crandall & Rachel Schultz for being exceptional leaders. Your guidance and expertise have been instrumental in my development, and I’m truly grateful for the lessons I've learned from you both. I also want to express my appreciation to Krystle Rehn & Amanda Long, CMP for your mentorship and unwavering support throughout my internships. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have worked alongside such a talented team and for the personal and professional growth I've experienced. I look forward to what the future holds!

As I start my senior year at Michigan State University I wanted to reflect on my summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work at Rock Events as an Event Production Intern. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to dive into the fast-paced world of event planning. From brainstorming creative concepts to assisting on-site during events, every moment was a chance to learn and grow. I was fortunate to work on some amazing events, including the Rocket Mortgage Classic, the Detroit Grand Prix, and the Tammy Z Golf Outing. Each event provided unique challenges and valuable experiences! I want to thank Rachel Schultz for being a such great team leader, she showed me every aspect of event planning. Your guidance and expertise made all the difference, and I truly appreciate the time you invested in my growth. I also want to thank Amanda Long, CMP for being a wonderful mentor. You were there every step of my journey to help and guide me in my internship and I am so grateful. I am so appreciative of everything the Rock Events team has taught me, I enjoyed every minute of my summer here and cannot wait to apply what I have learned in the future!

I am SO EXCITED to announce that I am starting a new position at Rock Events on Monday as an Event Sales Coordinator! I cannot wait to get started on this new chapter of my career and get to know Detroit at the same time. I want to thank Julie Glenn and Connar McLeod for their support throughout the interview/acceptance process. I'm looking forward to working alongside them and learning from their expertise.
